ABOUT BRADLEY STOKE - SOUTHERN BROOKS COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
Our main priorities are:
· Working with children and young people
· Helping families
· Building Community Capacity
· Working with Older People
Community development is about working with local people to help them
identify issues that concern them and to find local answers to local issues.
Priorities for our work are supporting young people, young families,
providing opportunities for people to work together through community
arts projects and building up a strong community sector. The project offers
hands on support. Often community development workers can only support
a process – facilitate bringing together a group of people, provide
a time limited support that helps people organise themselves.
While the project believes firmly in people taking responsibility and
in empowering people, we are also able to go one step further –
to provide a management framework when needed that enables things to happen.
We currently have a staff team of two full-time workers and 30 sessional
workers. The Co-ordinator for the project is Julie Snelling. Mo Bell is
the Office Manager and ensures the smooth running of the administrative
side of the project. Ruth Cornish is the Youth Development Worker for
Bradley Stoke and manages a team of staff who deliver detached youth work
in the town, run three nights a week youth work at Baileys Court Activity
Centre, a young mums group, a youth forum and a regular football coaching
session in partnership with Bristol Rovers and the Police.
