Family Support Workers – Part of the Southern Brooks Community
Partnership.
At Family Support our priorities are supporting families and developing
services for children and young people. We believe in helping families
to work together by providing a responsive, flexible family focussed
service.
We are not counsellors or social workers but can offer support and
information for any family that may be experiencing difficulties, feelings
of isolation or just needing some information and not being sure where
to ask.
Our Family Support Workers are: Kim Morton, Corrina Wood and Stacy
Harvey. They can all be contacted on 01454 867 076.

Community development is about working with local people to help them identify issues that concern them and to find local answers to local issues.
Priorities for our work are supporting young people, young families, providing opportunities for people to work together through community arts projects and building up a strong community sector. The project offers hands on support. Often community development workers can only support a process – facilitate bringing together a group of people, provide a time limited support that helps people organise themselves.
While the project believes firmly in people taking responsibility and in empowering people, we are also able to go one step further – to provide a management framework when needed that enables things to happen.
We currently have a staff team of two full-time workers and 30 sessional workers. The Co-ordinator for the project is Julie Snelling. Mo Bell is the Office Manager and ensures the smooth running of the administrative side of the project. Rachel Shavell-Jones is the Youth Development Worker for Bradley Stoke and manages a team of staff who deliver detached youth work in the town, run three nights a week youth work at Baileys Court Activity Centre, a young mums group, a youth forum and a regular football coaching session in partnership with Bristol Rovers and the Police.
Supportive Parents – a parent-led organisation providing confidential and independent support to parents of children with special educational needs. We are a Parent Partnership Service for Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset and encourage partnership between parents and professionals.
