Bradley Stoke Junior Netball Club

Set up in August 2011 to help promote the sport amongst girls aged 11-15 years at a club level. There are currently over 20 regular members who train outdoors (in all weathers!) at the Jubilee Centre from 5.30–7.00pm every Wednesday. Four qualified coaches and some of the Senior team members volunteer their time to assist in developing netball skills, match play ability and improving the general health and well being of the members. As we went to print the Juniors were about to run a Sport Relief mile as part of their warm up to training which is the first fundraising event by the Juniors and sees them follow in the footsteps of the Seniors who have raised money for several charities through team and individual events (St Peter’s Hospice Midnight Walk, Bradley Stoke 10K, Bristol 10K/Half Marathon, 3 Peaks Challenge, Sky Dives, Pub Quizes etc). If you are interested in joining the juniors please contact Vice Chair/Assistant Coach Siân Briddon on 07920 745965 (after 6pm) or email bsncjuniors@yahoo.co.uk

Chipping Sodbury Music Society

Chipping Sodbury Music Society, founded in 1947, presents seven live concerts each season between October and May. The professional musicians we engage perform a wide range of music, not just classical, and we are fortunate that our venue, Chipping Sodbury Town Hall, provides excellent facilities for lively pre-concert gatherings. All concerts are held on Tuesday evenings starting at 7.30 pm. Tickets are available on the door: Adults £12, School age children FREE, and annual membership at £55 for adults represents excellent value. Our events are listed in the What's On section of this website.

In recent years we have welcomed local artists including the Ardeton Ensemble, The Gorgeous Big Horns Big Band, Premiere Brass, Hayley Savage, Charlotte Newstead and Dr John Marsh. We have also held a very successful workshop in conjunction with South Gloucestershire Council Music Service and BANES after which a group of young local flautists, Flutissimo, performed with Ian Clarke and Tim Carey at the evening concert; we hope to put on similar events in future.

Northavon Youth Theatre Company

Northavon Youth Theatre Company (NYTC) is a performance vehicle for 60 young people aged 11-18 (including disabled) drawn from the local community and all are students of the Northavon School of Drama. They are encouraged to responsibly develop both interpersonal and theatrical skills through tuition plus workshops -culminating in performing musicals or showcases usually annually around Easter and concerts by arrangement.

Having presented high quality youth productions for 31 years, (a South-West record), gained six theatrical awards in the last twelve years and launched many professional careers, NYTC's reputation reflects enthusiasm, energy and excellence!
We are based in Thornbury. Rehearsals usually take place on Saturdays in the Chantry, and major productions are staged in the Armstrong Hall.

The group has been entertaining local audiences for over 31 years with hit shows as diverse as Les Misérables, Summer Holiday and Crazy For You. It is the longest running youth theatre company in the South West and its shows have received many awards, including a Gazette Mask and six Rose Bowls for Amateur Drama and Music.

For the last 5 years we have been taking parties of talented young people to the meetings and social evenings of local groups to present an eclectic programme featuring Songs from the Shows, sketches, dance and Christmas favourites. These concerts give our members additional experience in performance; increase our links with the local community; raise funds to offset the costs of the group’s annual show; and provide our audiences with an opportunity to enjoy the many and varied talents of the Company.

If you are interested in arranging a booking or hearing more about the NYTC Concert Party, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Thornbury Musical Theatre Group

The Thornbury Musical Theatre Group (TMTG) has been entertaining local audiences since March 1968 (when the group was formed under the name of Thornbury Amateur Operatic Society). In 2003 the group was re-named to Thornbury Musical Theatre Group to depict a more modern approach as to what we do.

Since inception, audiences have been treated to many popular musicals, pantomimes, concerts and revues. TMTG performs at the Armstrong Hall in Thornbury, and currently our yearly programme includes a pantomime, a main show and usually a revue/concert which we perform around May/June.

At times, we are also asked to take part in the Thornbury Arts Festival or put on small concerts for various charities or private bookings. Bookings for these can be directed to 01454 853947.

We are a dedicated, close knit group and work very hard, not only in rehearsing for our shows, but also building and painting of the scenery, technical aspects of putting on shows, publicity, box office, props, making and hiring of the costumes and front of house. We also organise social events for our members each year to get everyone together, e.g. barbecue, theatre trips, quiz nights, discos, etc. We have a reasonably large percentage of younger members although we often find ourselves short of people in the 20-35 range - especially men!

Rehearsals take place at the Village Hall in Tytherington on Wednesday nights (and Friday for those with principal parts).

If you yearn to take part in a musical show, pantomime, or sing in a concert, why not put your dreams into action? We always welcome new members. If anyone, aged 18 or over, with a love of singing and aptitude to move those twinkle toes (male or female) wishes to join us, contact us now on 01454 413842.
