Congratulations to Abbeywood U13 Girls Football Team

On Wednesday 6 January the u13 girls football team from Abbeywood Community School continued their campaign in the National PlayStation cup. For their top 32 draw the girls had to travel to Henry Beaufort School in Winchester. Abbeywood girls started strong and dominated in the first half. After ten minutes with a bit of clever footwork from Massie Porter (Year 7) she was able to find the back of the net. First half score was 1-0 to Abbeywood.
In the second half the girls continued to go from strength to strength and the great striking duo of Keira Beck and Zoe Jones (Y8) were able to work together and score one more goal each. In the second half Henry Beaufort came out strong but Annabelle Best (Y8) in goal was on top form and made some superb diving saves. In the last ten minutes the home team managed to find the back of the net off a ricocheted ball but it was not enough and the Abbeywood girls did not let them back in the game after that. The final score was 3-1 to Abbeywood! The girls are now in the top 16 in the country.
Good luck to the team who are next playing against Gordano in the last 16 of the cup on Thursday 21 January on the college 3G pitch at 2.00 p.m.
