Appeal for information following the theft of a puppy from Bristol Dogs and Cats Home

A five month old Chihuahua cross puppy has been stolen from Bristol Dogs and Cats Home during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Yesterday staff at the Bristol rescue centre feared the young female dog, named Fox, may have been stolen to be used for breeding.

Fox was stolen during the night, sparking a police investigation. Jodie Hayward, the centre s manager said that despite the charity being staffed 24/7 the robbery had been a highly skilled operation, with much planning put into it.

“They used professional tools to break in, and knew exactly which kennel they were aiming for. Our fear is that she has been stolen to be used for breeding, however she has only recently been spayed and is still recovering from that operation – we do not know what condition little Fox is being kept in, if that operation wound gets infected it could make her seriously ill and she would need veterinary attention ”.

Fox is neutered and microchipped, and has been reported as stolen. The police and their forensics team have been at the rescue centre, investigating the break in and gathering evidence.

“It is sickening to think that these heartless people have planned this operation so carefully, and now one of our special dogs has been stolen and we are terrified for her safety. We have done everything possible to prevent this from ever happening, but as you will all know, no place, property or area is ever completely safe from these criminals. Please share this story far and wide, she could be anywhere by now ”

The centre has circulated the information to dog wardens, Dog Lost sites and many other stolen/lost groups online. “We have been overwhelmed by the response from our Facebook supporters, the post has had over 550,000 views so far, and has been shared by more than 13,000 people in less than 24 hours. We hope that with her picture being shared across the UK, that someone, somewhere, will recognise her, we just want her to be safely returned to us ”

If anybody has information on the whereabouts of Fox, they can contact Avon and Somerset police on 101 quoting reference 318 of 20th September 2015.
