Clean for The Queen is a campaign launched in partnership with Keep Britain Tidy to clear up Britain in time for The Queen’s 90th birthday.  It will rally an army of volunteers across the country to clean up their local areas and will include a special clean-up weekend on March 4–6.

Environment Minister Rory Stewart said: “Her Majesty The Queen is an inspiration to all of us. Her 90th birthday is a unique opportunity for people to come together in celebration of Her Majesty’s long service and dedication to this country.  Everyone has a responsibility to keep their community tidy and this campaign provides us with a great chance to protect our wildlife and improve the quality of our streets and public spaces. I hope it will help lead to a lasting legacy of a cleaner, tidier Britain.”

Joining in with this community initiative, a team from the Aztec Hotel & Spa has been out on this beautiful sunny morning working hard in the Three Brooks Nature Reserve picking up sacks of litter. Bradley Stoke Matters thinks they have done a fabulous job of tidying up Bradley Stoke’s local beauty spot and the team tweeted  “We’ve had a great time paying back to our beautiful community!”.

Well done to team.

It’s just a huge shame that initiatives like this are necessary and people can’t dispose of their own rubbish appropriately.

Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday is on 21st April this year.  She will become the first reigning monarch to have reached this fabulous age and it will be celebrated with a variety of events taking place in April, May, June.
