BFI Film Academy Bristol – get involved!

BFI-Film2After the hugely successful pilot programme, Watershed and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School have again received funding from the BFI to deliver the BFI Film Academy Bristol.
BFI Film Academy Bristol (FAB) are looking for young people who can demonstrate a passion and talent for film and filmmaking, and the potential and commitment to develop this through the Academy course.
Selected participants will have access to industry-standard film equipment, a season of BFI Academy screenings at Watershed, masterclasses with industry experts, vocational development opportunities, high quality tutorials and chances to work and network with people who have similar interests and talents. They will be supported in creating an online portfolio and will showcase their film and Academy experience, in order to gain a Silver Arts Award. BFI FAB aims to equip participants to become the next generation of filmmakers in the South West.

The Pilot programme participants really enjoyed the opportunities made available to them and made some great pieces of work. Several participants were selected to attend the prestigious BFI Residential Film Academy held at the Nation Film and Television School (NFTS) where they got to meet and work with other young people from all over the country and award-winning filmmakers. In September four participants from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School had the opportunity to attend the Up to 21 Film Festival in Warsaw where their film had been selected for screening.

BFI Film Academy Bristol is running evenings and some weekends from January to March 2014. There are 35 Academy places available across the two centres.

Applications for 2014 are open at http://bfifab.org.uk and will close on 11 November 2013. Shortlisted applicants will be called for interview on the 25 November 2013.
