Big Spring Clean 2016February 3rd, 2016
Communities from all over South Gloucestershire will once again come together to take part in the annual BIG Spring Clean campaign. Last year, local schools, town and parish councils, brownies, cubs, youth groups and local churches all took part in the campaign, improving their local environment.
Free gloves and refuse bags will be available and groups can borrow litter pickers and hoops. However, please be aware that South Gloucestershire Council only have a limited number of litter pickers and hoops, which will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
To register your interest please complete a Booking Form and return it to SGC by Friday, 19 February 2016.
Disposing of waste from your BIG Spring Clean
If you have the resources yourself, you can take your filled refuse bags to your local Sort It centre. It’s much easier to separate recyclable and non-recyclable litter into different sacks during your tidy up rather than after. Please request some clear plastic bags i.e. one for cans, one for plastic bottles etc. For more information about recycling please visit www.southglos.gov.uk/sortit.
Alternatively, you can arrange for South Gloucestershire Council’s Street Care Cleansing Team to collect the sealed bags from your BIG Spring Clean event. You will need to agree a time and location with the council for the removal of rubbish collected prior to your event. This information can be included on the booking form or by e-mail to [email protected].
Unfortunately, SGC can no longer supply skips for the disposal of rubbish.
Please visit the council website for further information and to download a Booking Form on the BIG Spring Clean. www.southglos.gov.uk/bigspringclean.
