Bradley Stoke Bowls Club New update from Aarthur Allan
September 20th, 2015NEW BOWLS TROPHY
Bradley Stoke Physio Novice Cup
Bradley Stoke Bowls Club introduced a new competition this year to encourage beginners. The competition, for bowlers with less than three years experience, attracted 16 competitors who showed a remarkably high standard.
The winner Robert Bertram was given a good contest by newcomer John Parkinson.
The photos show the presentation of the trophy by Louise Dodds, who very kindly donated it and who sponsors the Club.
Bradley Stoke Bowls Club also supports a Captain s charity every season; this season it was Brace, and recently at the Captain s charity day, the club were fortunate to raise £750.00; with all the proceeds going to Brace.
FAIRY TALE ENDINGS TO BOWLS COMPETITONS
Throughout Saturday and Sunday 5th and 6th September, Bradley Stoke Bowlers were locked in struggles to win several competitions.
Although the early games produced thrilling tussles, none could compare with the dramatic finishes to the two Triples games. Firstly, the winning men escaped from jail by taking a five point score on the last end! This feat was only surpassed in wonder by a game-saving strike with the very last shot in the ladies event! We commiserate with the unlucky losers.
The full results are as follows.
Ladies 2 Woods Maggie Cooper
Mens 2 Woods Steve Burdock
Mixed Pairs Jean Overton, Dennis Overton
Ladies Pairs Pauleen Dent, Doreen Pope
Mens Pairs Dennis Overton, Terry Ridsdale
Ladies Championship Singles Doreen Pope
Mens Championship Singles Dennis Overton
Ladies Triples Maggie Cooper, Denise Eland, Janet Wilkins
Mens Triples Alan Dent, John Pope, George Eland.
The Club Chairman Steve Lee expressed the sincere thanks of all members to Denise Eland for organizing the event. In reply she spoke kindly of the way competitors and markers had eased her task by cooperating fully and on time throughout the summer. Later Steve Lee presented the various trophies to winners and runners-up in his customary genial manner.
The bowling season continues until the end of September. The Club AGM will be held in the Orchard Room at the Bailey s Court Activity Centre on the 22nd October commencing at 6.30 pm.
