Bradley Stoke Cricket Clubs Weekend Results

Bradley Stoke 1st secured their 2nd win of the season away to Portishead, beating the home side by 6 wickets. Portishead batted 1st and were bowled out for a below par 136ao on a beautiful sunny day at the lake grounds. Wayne Passmore was the pick of the bowlers collecting 4 wickets. With a small total to chase the BS openers started quickly reaching 50 off of only 8 overs before both were dismissed in quick succession. S Davis came in at 3 and was aggressive from the off top scoring with 34 not out to guide Bradley Stoke to victory by 6 wickets with 23 overs still to bowl.

The 2nds were hoping to continue with their table topping start to the season with a win at home to Failand and Portbury. The away team batted first and put up a below par total of 156 with D Tobin (3/49) and B Radford (3/29) the pick of the bowlers. In
reply, the home side were stunned to lose their top 5 Batsman for a combined total of 17 runs leaving them looking at a heavy defeat. The middle and lower order rallied for Bradley Stoke pushing the total up to 104-9. Then No 10 and 11 batsman L Holder (26 No) and B Radford (27 No) put on a partnership of 50 for the last wicket and secured victory of the penultimate ball of the game.

The 3rds beat Bedminster 5ths by 55 runs.   Bradley Stoke put up a total of 198 ao with M Winward top scoring with 72 Not out.   Bedminster were dismissed for 143 with D Talbot the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets.

The clubs only defeat of the weekend came with the 4th team as they were soundly beaten by Carson s 3rd X1. Bob Meeling scored 96 for Carson s who posted an imposing target of 231/4 off of their 45 overs. Youngster D English was the pick of the bowlers for BS taking 2/47.   Bradley Stoke were never in the chase eventually being dismissed for 91 off of 31 Overs. N Lawrence top scored with 27 for Bradley Stoke.

The game of the weekend undoubtedly came in the Sunday league with Bradley Stoke playing away at Pottern. Bradley Stoke batted first and posted an astonishing   423/9 off of their 40 over s. Teenager Joe Coles smashed the club record with an innings of 255 which included 18 Sixes and 22 Fours. Club Captain Dan Peachey provided good support at the other end scoring 79.   It was much the same story when it came to Potterns innings. Led by a superb 181 from Ed Fruen, Pottern pushed Bradley Stoke close finishing with a total of 378/9 off of their 40 overs.
