Bradley Stoke in Bloom has its first Winner!

Mayor of Bradley Stoke, Cllr Brian Hopkinson presents the first ever winner of the Bradley Stoke in Bloom Front Garden Competition to local resident Maureen Hopkins during the Carnival celebrations on Saturday afternoon.

Bradley Stoke in Bloom was initiated by the Town Council and following a series of meetings a small group of volunteers agreed to become the steering group and have been busy over the summer months.  There have been two competitions, the Front Garden Award above and the Sunflower Growing competition which is due to be judged Monday 2nd September.

The group have also ran two workdays so far held on the 3rd Saturday on the month.  In July they tidied up the public footpath from  Dewfalls Drive  to The Common East and in August  worked on the flower beds near the seating area on Brook Way by the Doctors surgery.

Would you like to help and get involved?  The  next workday is Saturday 21st September, meeting at 10.00am by the ‘Bradley Stoke’ town sign by the Hilton Hotel off the Aztec West roundabout (postcode BS32 4JF) where they will be putting up and planting a planter. If you are able to go along and help you would be very welcome – feel free to bring your own hand tools and gloves if you have them, all other tools will be provided. And bring a packed lunch, although tea and coffee will be provided.
