Bradley Stoke in Bloom – RHS ‘In Your Neighbourhood’

The  Royal Horticultural Society  (RHS) encourages communities to get together gardening through the  RHS  Britain  in Bloom  campaign, and  Bradley Stoke in Bloom (BSiB) are looking for volunteers to join them.

In August this year, the RHS ‘In Your Neighbourhood’ judge met with the group and gave an overview of its achievements to date and plans for the future. Since the group was only initiated earlier this year, they were delighted to have recently learnt that they have been graded as ‘improving’, in essence level 2 of 5.  The criteria looked at are community participation, environmental responsibility and gardening achievement.

The group are running work days on the third Saturday of each month from 10am till 4pm (with a break for lunch) and anyone interested is welcome to join them.  The meeting points are listed in the what’s on section.

This Saturday’s workday is something different as BSiB will be doing a First Aid session at Aztec West Hotel, with the training being provided by the local branch of St John Ambulance.  The session will start at 9.30am and is likely to finish around 1pm.  As places are limited, you would need to confirm beforehand via email (as given below) if you would like to attend. To  make the most of the rest of the day, they will be reconvening at 1.30pm at the gardens by the Doctor s surgery on Brook Way and finishing by 4pm. BSiB have some gardening gloves, but maybe not enough for everyone, so feel free to wear your own and if you have them, take spades, trowels and secateurs.

To offer your support, donations of tools, or  your views and ideas, you can contact them via email –  [email protected]
