Bradley Stoke Lions in the New Year

Hopefully you may well have seen your local Lions during the recent festive period. It is really our busiest time of the year for fund raising. Along with Bristol Brunel Lions we were out and about with our inflatable Santa and seasonal music outside local supermarkets collecting contributions from the public as they carried out their Christmas shopping.

When the rain laid off, we were also out during the December evenings with our Santa Sleigh bringing Christmas music to the streets of Bradley Stoke. It was pleasing to see how well the Sleigh was received and supported by the community.

Our Christmas activities followed a year when we supported several charities including SARAID, a voluntary British and United Nations classified Light Urban Search and Rescue Team who respond to global disasters at short notice. Gympanzees is another charity we’ve supported. They provide accessible fun and fitness for disabled children and have

recently taken over a permanent residence in Aust. The North Bristol Food Bank also received our help, and it is these causes, along with other Lions projects that will receive the money we collected at Christmas.

Looking forward, our future activities will include our continual support of charities, especially those of local interest. This will involve fund raising activities at local fetes, and festivals throughout the year.

Volunteers and new members are always made welcome in the Lions, so if you would like to find out more about what we do including how we support the local community, and our social events look at our Facebook page: BradleyStokeLions.
