Bradley Stoke Youth Rugby @ St Mary’s Old Boys RFC

BS-Youth-Rugby-logoWith a history of being successful at all levels of youth rugby having produced championship, premiership and international players, St Mary ‘s Old Boys RFC at Northwood Park, Trench Lane is now trying to establish closer links with its local town of Bradley Stoke and has rebranded its Youth section as Bradley Stoke Youth Rugby at St Mary s.

The Club offers great facilities and is RFU accredited which means that they have everything in place to offer a safe & structured environment in which children can grow and improve their rugby skills. Coaches are CRB checked and RFU trained to Level 1,2 & 3.   As well as the sport itself, they run a number of fun events each year including the christmas party, end of season tour and player presentations.   Training takes place on a Wednesday evening between 18:30 – 20:00 and 10:00 – 12:00 on Sundays although Sunday is normally a match day when   fixtures are played both home and away.

Bradley Stoke Youth Rugby can offer an introduction into rugby starting from age 5 when the emphasis is very much on fun and preparation for mini rugby which they can join at Year 1.  Mini rugby is for Years 1 and 2 and involves tag rugby competitions.  Year 3 removes the tags and the games begins to look more recognisable through years 4 and 5.  Years 6 & 7 is normal rugby with a few rule differences and on smaller pitches and years 8 and above enjoy normal rugby on a full sized pitch!

Girls Rugby – at the younger age groups up to under 12s (school year 7), the girls play alongside the boys. Girls at school year 8 will then join the girls team. In recent years the girls team has produced several county players and this year the Club has 6 girls playing at county level.   If you want to have fun, keep fit and make new friends playing rugby for St Mary s Girls Section could be for you.

Adult Rugby – The Club runs three senior team and training is on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

The 1st team play in the Gloucester Premiership, the 2nd team in the Gloucester Reserve league 1 and the 3rd team in the Gloucester Reserve league 2.
