Bristol Balloon Fiesta and BSR 103.4FM

bF.jpgLast weekends balloon fiesta, the largest in the events 37 year history was the temporary home from home for a team of dedicated volunteers from Bradley Stoke Radio ( BSR) who in conjunction with Jelli Records had been given the opportunity to not only play host to nearly thirty live music performances over the entire four days of the event, but also to provide the equipment and build a sound stage for the acoustic acts.

Not only did the volunteers create an awesome entertainment area complete with a superb sound system with the sound mixing desk in its very own tent! a music stage complete with hay bale seating and a marquee to cover it all, they also provided a fully equipped outside broadcast studio in the BSR event trailer which enabled live radio coverage of the entire event,  again across all four days with in excess of 34 hours of live programming, to our knowledge the first time a radio station, let alone a volunteer run community radio station has provided four full days of live programming all broadcast from the Balloon Fiesta Site itself.

A variety of volunteer presenters, interviewed  the likes of Don Cameron, balloon pilots and representatives from various charity stalls such as the RNLI and Guide dogs for the blind, one presenter even got to chat with Miss Bristol, whilst another had a rather one sided interview with a Boa Constrictor called of all things Rupert. It was an amazing experience to have been part of such a famous Bristol institution, but it was made even more special by the achievements of a bunch of volunteers from Bradley Stoke who all help out at a small not for profit community radio station based in North Bristol called BSR!
