Call from Public Leads to four Arrests: Police Bulletin

Police have praised a member of the public who reported seeing people acting suspiciously at a house in Bradley Stoke in the early hours today, Monday July 12 2010.

Four men were arrested nearby within 10 minutes of the call. A 28-year-old man and three teenagers aged 18, 17 and 15 remain in police custody.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Clive Johnson said: “We rely on this sort of information from the public to help us keep our streets safe. There are some simple steps we can all take to deter thieves from targeting our homes.”

  • Join or set up Neighbourhood Watch – contact Neighbourhood Watch Administrator Bridget Whittle on 0117 931 2503 or e-mail [email protected] for information.
  • Mark your property with your postcode and register valuables on the national property database at www.immobilise.com. This deters thieves because it helps police prove property has been stolen, as well as increasing your chances of getting it back should the worst happen.
  • Make sure fences and gates are sturdy with good quality fittings
  • Use a good quality padlock to secure your shed
  • Make sure ladders and tools are secured otherwise a thief could use them to break into your home
