Calling all young people!
July 11th, 2012
If you re aged 11 to 18, with spare time on Saturdays, would love an interesting hobby, plus a great circle of friends, then read on!
Northavon School of Drama was established in Thornbury in 1975 and, guided by Principal Lyn Bedford, has gained an excellent reputation. Under its performance name: Northavon Youth Theatre Company, accolades include 7 theatrical awards, plus numerous nominations, for shows such as Oklahoma!, Anything Goes, The Boy Friend, Oliver, Crazy For You, Carousel, Les Misérables, Our House and its latest offering: Grease!, plus many Summer Showcases and Community Concerts.
New entrants are auditioned, so if you have potential, reasonable diction, a sense of rhythm, can sing in tune, and, above all, enthusiasm, you ll be invited to join up to 60 other young people meeting on Saturdays (9.30 – 12.30pm), at the Chantry, Castle Street. Subs are kept low, to enable accessibility.
The Workshop-based Summer Term explores such theatrical disciplines as voice work, mime, stage combat, singing, dance, improvisation & mask work, culminating in a Summer Showcase, while developing useful life skills, like confidence, discipline, team work and using initiative ~ plus having fun!!
To get involved and on the waiting list, either email [email protected] or ring 01454 884154, with your name, DOB, full contact details and any relevant experience and/or instrumental ability, but enthusiasm rules! Both sexes and all ages are welcome, but we particularly need more Tenors and Basses. Don t be shy ~ we re very friendly and we d love to meet you!
