Calls to Avon and Somerset Police about a suspicious man in gardens leads to arrest
June 3rd, 2013
People living in Patchway and Bradley Stoke called Avon and Somerset Police to report a suspicious man in gardens, looking into homes.
A number of people called them on Sunday afternoon, June 2, with two families challenging a man at their open back doors.
A 44-year-old man of no fixed abode has been charged with burglary and is due before Northavon Magistrates today, Monday June 3.
Neighbourhood Inspector Bob Evely said: “I’m glad that people are calling us about this sort of incident. Please remember, now that we finally have some sunny weather, not to leave doors and windows open if you’re not in the same room. It only takes a thief seconds to walk in a take a handbag, mobile phone or laptop.”
There’s a lot more home security advice, including information on joining or setting up Neighbourhood Watch, on their website, www.avonandsomerset.police.uk
