‘Carol’ – A Story for Christmas, Thursday 9th December
December 3rd, 2010
What is ‘Carol’? – Based on Bob Hartman s recent book this modern retelling of Dickens s classic A Christmas Carol promises to be a fun-filled magical evening of theatre and seasonal songs for all. Who is it for? ‘Carol’ is aimed at the local community (age 8+) and is a great way to get people together and celebrate Christmas. The event also provides an opportunity to raise essential support for Tearfund.
The storyJack O Malley hates shopping, snow, and even Christmas. All three at once is Jack s idea of a very bad day. Storming into a Starbucks seeking escape, Jack runs smack into Carol, a beautiful and mysterious stranger, almost knocking her over and unintentionally changing his life forever. In this one moment his entire life who he once was, who he is, and who he has the potential to become flashes before his eyes. In this humorous rendering of Charles Dickens classic tale, timeless lessons are re-examined through the lens of modern society.
Simon Greener writes: “If you have not seen Bob Hartman in action then do not miss this opportunity. I have been able to see Bob on a couple of occasions at Spring Harvest. His ability to bring a story alive is amazing. He has such an infectious humour and can bring such emotion to a story that you could find yourself almost laughing and crying at the same time. I shall do my best to see this and hope that you would join me, I am sure it will be a good evening.”
