Celebrating Diversity in Literature –

Join us at the launch of our Travelling Library for LIVE music, storytelling, cultural food and more!

In partnership with Active Libraries South Gloucestershire, SGREN presents a Travelling Library of books featuring Ethnically Diverse characters and/or authors.

The collection showcases stories from around the world including Africa, India, the West Indies, Eastern Europe, the Middle East plus many more. It has been curated out of personal recommendations, provided by SGREN’s members which will also be available as a resource for other libraries, schools and community spaces.

The Travelling Library of the World will visit each main library within South Gloucestershire for 3-4 weeks at a time, where the books will be available to borrow, as normal. Many of the books have multiple copies that can be found in other libraries in the West of England, even whilst our collection is elsewhere.

To launch the Travelling Library, we will be holding a family friendly event from 3-5:30pm on Monday 3rd April 2023 at Bradley Stoke Library, 1 Fiddlers Wood Ln, Bradley Stoke, Bristol BS32 9BS.

Join us for African drumming, LIVE storytelling, author talks, arts and crafts, and light refreshments.

Browse our worldly collection of books for Children, Young Adults and Adults and pick up a copy of our recommended reading list, whilst embracing the rich culture the stories convey.
