Celebrities, Heart FM and Ben Walker Support Childline with Aztec Fundraiser
October 22nd, 2012Local residents were wined, dined and entertained on Saturday 20th October, whilst raising much-needed funds for Childline.
In partnership with Heart FM, Ben Walker organised a cabaret style evening with a 3 course meal, auction and disco supplied by Jay Dormer from Heart FM. The twist was that the waiters for the evening were celebrities and well known locals.
Acts for the evening s cabaret all came from the local areas and included a wide range of dance, song, comedy and live music. Unlike your normal dinner dances, this one was bursting at the seams with local entertainment and the dress code was simply red, white and blue.
Cabaret Director, Kathryn Mills said: This has been an extremely exciting show to be involved with and we are all so grateful to the local acts who performed”. The performers included: Matt Walker, Hugh O’Sullivan, Odyssey School of Dance, Stage Whisper, Evie Miller, Mr Paul Burling, The Winter Guard and Holiday Rumour.
All funds raised were in aid of Heart FM s, Have a Heart Appeal for Childline. At present 1 of every 4 calls being made to Childline are going unanswered, so every penny raised will go towards helping this issue be dealt with. In May this year, £1400.00 was raised by Ben, Bradley Stoke Town Football Club and an array of former local football stars for the charity, along with Paris and Ed from Heart Breakfast Team.
Bradley Stoke Matters attended this event. We were impressed to be served by a member of Bradey Stoke Football Club wearing his new Bradley Stoker Matters sponsored. It didn’t fit in with the ‘red, white and blue’ theme but no-one was complaining!
Ben Walker thanked Heart FM, Bradley Stoke Matters, The Aztec Hotel and other local businesses for their support of this event. We would like to say well done to Ben for organising such a unique event. We hope to see more such events promoting all that is good about Bradley Stoke and the local area.
