“Cheers” from the BSTFC Clubhouse
September 18th, 2011
Members and supporters of Bradley Stoke Town Football Club flocked to the Jubilee Centre on Saturday 17th September to celebrate the official opening of the club’s new official ‘Clubhouse’ – the ‘Hornets’ Nest’.
Proudly displaying their official license, the club managers served customers from a fully stocked bar – and even offered to make me a cup of tea! The celebrations included a BBQ, a race night extravaganza and entertainment throughout the night. With nearly 100 guests expected, the Oak Hall was decked out in full party mode, with helium balloon displays, decorated tables and even a football pinata!
Manager Nick Potter, explained that at the beginning of this year, the club set our a 10 year plan to take Bradley Stoke Town Football Club up to County standard. A bar is recognised as being a great way not only to bring in revenue, but also to attract more players, as proceeds from the clubhouse enable players’ membership fees to be reduced. Nick told us “If we get promotion every year, it will take us five years to reach County Standard.”
There are also hopes to upgrade the pitch, making it larger and adding railings.
The clubhouse will be open every Saturday 4pm to 6.30pm throughout the football season – which runs until April. With an array of hot and cold drinks and bar snacks everyone is very welcome, whether they are involved in the football or not. We can certainly recommend the warm and welcoming atmosphere, if Saturday night is anything to go by!
