Childrens school of rock opening in Bradley stoke

rock project 1The Rock Project School of Rock & Pop is opening it s doors in Bradley Stoke.

Already established successfully in other parts of the UK, including every Saturday morning in Westbury-on-Trym, it gives opportunities for 7-18 year olds to learn how to play guitar, bass, drums or vocals and perform regularly as part of a band.

The Rock Project is run by Matt Albon, whose 30 years experience as a drummer has seen him perform on stage all over the world supporting bands such as Stereophonics, Skunk Anansie, Feeder and the Fun Lovin Criminals. Matt grew up in Bristol and his family live locally in Bradley Stoke.

‘For me, music was a massive part of my childhood and I m so grateful to my parents for introducing me to drumming at a young age. Since my first gig when I was 13, I ve worked with so many talented people and I ve gained a lot of experience and hope that through the Rock Project I can pass some of that knowledge on. The Rock Project is a fantastic opportunity for young people to be taught by highly experienced, professional tutors and build their confidence by performing regularly each week as part of a rock and pop band. All of this while having a lot of fun, which is what learning and playing a musical instrument is all about!

The Rock Project is run every week during school term and costs £20 per child, per session. The sessions include ‘Plug & Play jam sessions, professional tuition in small groups, the ‘Music Master Quiz , song of the week and the opportunity for students to work towards Rockschool qualifications. The weekly sessions culminate in an end of year showcase concert where students perform on stage in a band in front of their family and friends and one junior and one senior receive the ‘Student of the year trophy.

Eamonn “I was one of the first students to join the Bristol Rock Project and I can honestly say I never looked back, I developed so much as a player and a person since joining. Brilliant tutors and a great franchisee (Matt). Wish I could go back and do it again! ”
