Christmas Lights Switch On at the Willow Brook Centre
November 15th, 2013
Bradley Stoke Radio in partnership with the Willow Brook Centre have planned a fun afternoon tomorrow building up to the momentous Christmas Lights Switch On!
Santa will be arriving in the square at 2pm in a vintage Morgan replica (weather permitting) rather than his traditional mode of transport and will be at the event all afternoon with sweets and glow bracelets for the kids.
The cats pyjamas are a very talented 40s/50s style female harmony group that performed at the Royal British Legion’s Tri Military event in Stoke Gifford and two members of the group will also be appearing next week in White Christmas at the Hippodrome. They were so good at the Tri-Military event that BSR invited them back to the studio for an impromptu live set later in the day! One not to miss.
Those of you who were at the Carnival on Bank Holiday Monday will also remember young singer/songwriter Abi from Weston Super Mare. Her performance was so well received that she has been invited back to sing again tomorrow.
Both acts will perform a mix of seasonal and non seasonal music.
The Bradley Stoke Community Singers will round off the evening after the switch on with a carol sing along – no excuses not to join in!
Weather permitting there will be the snow machines in operation too (although if it gets any colder we might soon have the real thing!)
BSR will be broadcasting live segments from the square on 103.4fm, so if you can’t make it you can always listen in.
The switch on ceremony itself is the result of a BSR on air competition for a local charity or non profit community group to win the honour of throwing the switch. The Heartful Dodgers were drawn at random from a hat on the community show last Monday and as well as throwing the switch Willow Brook are donating £200 to boost the charities funds!
