November 5th, 2012
Edge Church is spearheading nationwide attempts to prepare communities to deal with social change over the next decade. The Aztec West based Church will be holding a Civic Leaders Event this Thursday 8 November with Mal Fletcher – founder and chairman of 2020Plus.
The respected social futurist heads up a London-based think tank on social change and leadership innovation, helping business, communities and individuals to deal proactively with future change. Edge Church Senior Minister Jason Gowland said they were delighted to be hosting Mal Fletcher and this significant event for the city of Bristol.
He said: As a social futurist, Mal tracks major social shifts and writes, lectures and broadcasts about their likely impact on business, organisations and the wider society as a whole. He has something of significance to say to everybody in the community.
Mal has pioneered several major leadership networks in Europe and Australia, including the Strategic Leadership Consultation focusing on urban renewal in Europe. He has been featured on BBC TV and radio, Sky TV amongst others. The TV series he hosted, Edges, has been seen in many parts of the world and his books have been translated into five languages.
The Edge Church is based in a radically refurbished unit at the Aztec West business park. Originating in Adelaide, South Australia, it operated in a number of temporary locations across Bristol until moving in to Aztec West last year.
Jason Gowland went on: The 2020Plus Civic and Business Leadership Event aims to help leaders in government, business, education, public services and the not-for-profit sector to engage with the next generation and identify major challenges facing our city in the decade ahead.
The objective is to proactively engage likely social change before it occurs establishing a culture of innovation, networking with like-minded, community-focused leaders. We fully support any move to strategically shape a better future for Bristol.
