Claire Hazelgrove MP Invites Residents to Attend ‘Coffee with Claire’ Event in Stoke Gifford on Fireworks Regulations

Claire Hazelgrove, MP for the Filton and Bradley Stoke constituency, will bring local residents together at her latest ‘Coffee with Claire’ event on Saturday 26th September to discuss whether fireworks regulations should change.

This ‘Fireworks’ event, held in Stoke Gifford, will give residents the opportunity to share their experiences of fireworks, including issues around noise, safety and the antisocial use of fireworks across the community.

The event comes as the Labour Government is now consulting on changing the law surrounding the regulation of fireworks, including potentially reducing the permitted noise level.

This consultation ends on Wednesday 7th October 2026 and follows an annual public awareness campaign set up to help educate everyone about how to use fireworks safely and considerately. Labour Government polls in December 2025 found 91% of respondents supported regulatory change.

Claire has launched a local survey alongside this event to hear directly from residents about their views on the regulation of fireworks; drawing directly on their personal experiences. This can be completed here:

The MP will use the feedback gathered to then share with the relevant Government Minsters who will make the final decisions on whether fireworks regulations should be changed.

This ‘Coffee with Claire’ event is the latest of the monthly events the MP has led in the community since her election in 2024, bringing local people together on a different policy area each month to feed directly into government consultations and on what they’d like to see change locally to make theirs an even better place to live.

“Fireworks play a role in many celebrations and safe, well-organised displays bring the community together. We have many excellent ones locally.

“At the same time, I also hear from fellow residents who are concerned or vulnerable loved ones, including those with PTSD, and pets. Some are experiencing the impact of loud fireworks going off outside their homes and outside of these shared moments. 

“The Government is now consulting on changing the law – including lowering the noise limit for the fireworks that the public can buy. I want our community’s experience and views to help shape this. 

“I will collate all this local feedback and share it directly with the Government Minsters who will make the final decisions.
