Community ‘Street Party’ For Royal Wedding

Bradley Stoke Town Council are working with The Friends of Jubilee Green to hold a fabulous community ‘Street Party’ on April 29th in celebration of the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The grand event, which will take place at Jubilee Green in Bradley Stoke between 10am and 3pm, will feature: a huge screen for residents to watch the ceremony; childrens’ entertainment; community and commercial stalls; a ‘wedding reception’ disco; a prince and princess fancy dress competition, refreshments and a beer tent.

BBC Weatherman Ian Fergusson will officially open the event at 10.30pm. Bradley  Stoke Leisure Centre has donated free family swim passes for the lucky winners of the fancy dress competition.

Michelle Dent, Chair of the Friends of Jubilee Green told us “FOJG is a charity entirely made up of local volunteers, and our very simple aim for this event is to bring the community together to have fun.   Two members are working very hard to plan this event and to co-ordinate a variety of community groups involvement in the party.

“We will be charging commercial stalls to attend the family event and re-investing funds raised into providing free family entertainment to ensure no member of the community is excluded in these financially challenging times.   We will also be taking the opportunity to fully utilise the huge TV by showing short films and presentations about local community groups.

“We want the community to have a really good time and enjoy each others’ company.”
