Crowds Enjoy Wedding Celebration Despite Technical Hitch

Hundreds of local residents joined The Friends of Jubilee Green on Friday 29th April for the Royal Wedding Celebration, despite the disappointment of the promised ‘large screen TV’ which – through no fault of The Friends or of Bradley Stoke Town Council – was little larger than some people’s wide-screen TV’s at home.

Visitors enjoyed an array of funfair activities, in addition to community stalls run by local groups and churches. There was a huge array of traditional refreshments, as well as dishes from around the world. Children particularly liked the free puppet shows and many helped to decorate the gigantic Wedding Card which The Friends of Jubilee Green has prepared. A beautifully-decorated wedding cake was provided courtesy of The Aztec Hotel – quite a challenge for Helen from FOJG to cut slices small enough to make it go round! The event culminated in prizes for a ‘Prince’ and ‘Princess’ and then a family disco.

The Friends of Jubilee Green would like to thank everyone who attended, and have asked us to pass on to all our readers the apology which they have received from the company who provided the ‘large screen TV’.

“Dear Friends of Jubilee Green,

We are extremely sorry for the failure of the projector which was part of the package hired from us to show the Royal Wedding on a big screen……This is the first time in our 15 years operating we have had a projector fail and we apologise profusely to you and all the other friends and residents of Bradley Stoke who attended the event and are very disappointed …. with the situation….We are thankful that, for the main, with few people leaving to watch at home, the people of Bradley Stoke, who came for the day stayed to view the wedding and enjoy all the other events and attractions throughout the day despite the small image and the cold weather conditions. A full refund is being made to the organisers and a similar message has been sent.
Once again we apologise for the failure.”

A spokesperson for FOJG, said “Everything else about the day went really well; we would like to thank everyone who came and contributed to the great atmosphere.”
