Entry is now open for Thornbury Running Club’s race-The Oldbury Power 10-miler

Entries are now open for Thornbury Running Club s next race, The Oldbury Power 10-miler, on Sunday October 4th 2015 at 10.30am from Oldbury Power Station.

The Oldbury Power 10-miler race is a fast, flat road race, along quiet country lanes just a few miles from Thornbury. The race starts and finishes at Oldbury Power Station itself where you will find ample car parking and bag storage.

10 miles isn t a distance that s run that often and is an ideal distance if you ve done your first 10k and want to do your first 1/2 Marathon at some time. As 10-milers go, it s an easy course, and not a hill in sight! It could be a great warm-up/sharpener for the Great South Run (also 10 miles) or even perhaps the Bristol to Bath Marathon, both 3 weeks later.

The Running Club will supply pacemakers, whilst out on the course you will be well looked after by Thornbury Running Club s marshals who have a great reputation for their friendliness and encouragement!

This race is the third in a series of races in 2015 that together make up the Avon Road Race Championships for eligible runners and whilst there are various cash prizes on offer as well as a team competition, running isn t just about course records and PBs …..and Thornbury as a Club has always encouraged runners of all abilities.

So if you ve caught the running bug this year there ll be a group of Thornbury runners running at the back at something like 10-minute mile-pace to help you round. So if you think you can run for 100 minutes (or close to it, with a bit of walking!) why not give Oldbury Power 10 a try? There is no cut-off time for the event.

Full details and entry forms are available on Thornbury Running Club s website.
