Entries Now Open for 2011 Bradley Stoke 10k
March 29th, 2011
Applications are now invited for the annual Bradley Stoke 10k Run, organised by women s running group Sole Sisters as part of the Bradley Stoke Festival weekend. This year s run takes place on Sunday 12 June, with a slightly earlier start time of 9.30am.
Starting and finishing at the Jubilee Centre, the 10k officially measured route is mainly off-road, utilising the multi-terrain tracks and footpaths of Bradley Stoke which cross the town s conservation areas. The local Beat Team will be on hand to assist with traffic control on any road-crossing points. The run is open to anyone over 16 years of age and all abilities are welcome! There are more categories this year with prizes being awarded to: the 1st Bradley Stoke resident, 1st, 2nd and 3rd for both Male and Female, Veterans Male and Female (over 40, 50, 60 and 70+ categories). We are told that there is one Veteran Bradley Stoke resident who has competed every year that Sole Sisters has organised the event. He runs for St Peters Hospice and the Sole Sisters are pleased to accept his application with no charge in recognition of his achievement and as a small donation towards his cause.
The number of runners is limited to 500 and this year s nominated local charity is again the Nicola Cory Support Foundation. The NCSF does an excellent job supporting families who have a mother or a father suffering from cancer and is named after a young mum from Bradley Stoke, who s sister is also a member of Soles Sisters, so a charity very close to home, see www.nscf.org.uk for more info.
After the popularity of last year s post-race leg massages, Sole Sisters are very pleased that Bradley Stoke Physio will once again be at the finish line! There will also be a Technical T Shirt and goody bag for all finishers. Entrance forms can be downloaded from the new Soles Sisters website www.solesistersrc.co.uk. Matters Magazines are pleased to be supporting this year s 10k.
