Ex-Pupil Returns to Visit School ahead of World Cup!

On Monday 7th November, Holy Trinity Primary School had an exciting visit from Urdd Gobaith Cymru ahead of the World Cup. Footballer Joe Morrell, currently playing for Portsmouth, is part of the Welsh team and used to attend Holy Trinity Primary School.

In the assembly, the children were all very excited to hear more about Wales and the Welsh team and even learned some Welsh words. The Welsh mascot – Mr Urdd – even made an appearance! We were presented with a large photo of Joe and the Welsh pendant.

The whole school all predicted the scores of the first round of the World Cup, of course putting Wales straight into the next round! By the time this goes to press you will all know how well Wales did. Maybe Joe even managed to score in the final itself.

After the assembly, Years 3 and 4 received some fun football training in between the rain showers! They had a fun game called ‘The Traffic Light Game’ which involved learning names of colours in Welsh, for example red is coch and green is gwyrdd. We learned that the welsh team are going to play the USA first, followed by a game against Iran before their final match against England.

It has made us all look forward to the World Cup and we will be keeping a close eye on how Joe Morrell does. Come on Wales!
