The Bristol Construction Academy at Filton College is opening its doors to the construction trades with its first Construction Apprenticeship Open Event. On Thursday 3rd November from 7.30am-10am the Academy, based at Filton College s Main campus, is holding this exciting new event which aims to bring together apprentices and employers.
Apprentices will be on hand to showcase their work skills to potential employers in many areas including; bricklaying, carpentry, plastering, plumbing, painting and decorating and gas and renewable energy.
Budding students from the area will also be able to attend the event to access the skills and expertise of staff which is needed to plan and achieve a desired career in construction.
Each apprentice come with a year s basic skills training and are ready and willing to start work. There are no long term commitments by organisations as the college can offer flexible short-term contracts to employers. This benefits both parties and as well as improving the business, the business will be doing their bit to get the nation back to work.
The college is also offering learners £100 off course fee s when booking on to a course on the day.
George Ridd, Head of Construction comments: In response to the Government s demands for a skilled workforce, Filton College has introduced an exciting new apprenticeship programme to address the problems currently facing construction employers who are seeking to employ and support apprentices. This open day is an opportunity to showcase the skills and abilities of our construction apprentices who are seeking work based learning opportunities. It s also a great opportunity for employers to discuss their requirements with us to see if we can provide skilled young tradespersons to help support their business needs. Suppliers to the industry have also pledged to attend and will be offering some great deals.
