Fire Brigade Rescue Timmy from Drains

Timmy wet and cold but safe and unharmed

Much-loved 2-year-old white and tabby cat, Timmy, who went missing from Orchard Gate in Bradley Stoke, was

rescued by the fire brigade last night from a drain in nearby Ottrells Mead.

Relieved owners, Anthony and Nicky Howell, told us “Timmy had last been seen around 10am on Saturday morning and he is normally only out for a couple of hours at most – so we were very worried for his safety. We leafleted nearby houses asking residents to check their sheds and garages, hoping that he had accidentally been locked inside.”

Mr Howell spent much of the day on Sunday searching for the family pet. At 10pm on Sunday he was re-checking Ottrells Mead when he heard a faint miow-ing from one of the drains. He called the fire brigade and was delighted when the crew arrived within minutes, lited the drain cover and retrieved a wet but unharmed Timmy.

The fire brigade told Bradley Stoke Matters that due to the dry weather Timmy had been able to climb into a drain opening in Orchard Gate – and that he had become trapped following rain during the day. The crew were delighted to help, declining a personal reward offered by the Howells, instead pointing them in the direction of www.firefighterscharity.org.uk which accepts online donations.
