Gold Award for Friends of Holy Trinity
July 13th, 2012
Children at Holy Trinity Primary School are used to seeing a variety of ‘well done’ awards at their Friday assembly. Usually for things like good behaviour in class, neat handwriting or particularly hard work.
This week, in addition to the usual awards, it was a group of dedicated parents who got the recognition that they deserve. The ‘Friends of Holy Trinity’ were awarded a trophy and a cheque for £500 for reaching the regional finals of the PTA Gold Star Award – beating hundreds of entries from the whole of the South of England. The Gold Star Award is an annual award, presented for changing the life of a school.
Maddie Jarrett from PTA UK told us “The Friends of Holy Trinity were nominated by Friends member Mandy Sinclair and the judges were really impressed by the hard work put in by The Friends to achieve something really special in the school, namely the new library and ITC suite. The Friends really did make a difference.”
An individual award for dedication was also given to The Chair of the Friends, Lou Day; she received a luxury Thorntons Hamper which looked absolutely delicious!
Lou said that the group plan to use the unexpected prize towards improvements to the school’s outdoor play equipment.
Well done to ALL of The Friends.
