Growing a Pound at Bailey’s Court Primary School
April 10th, 2026Written by Livvie and Anton – Year 6
At Bailey’s Court Primary School, every year group hosts a fundraising event.
This can vary each year from sponsored events, to stalls and sales, and, as Year 6 is the big final year, we host an event named “Grow a Pound”. Each child is given a pound to, as the title suggests, grow! The children can work as groups (or individuals) to raise as much money as possible.
Over the years, there have been many different events that have taken place. This year, these events have ranged from selling sweet treats at the end of the school day to sponsored walks and cycles to car washes.
We have so far successfully made a whopping £5,000! We are immensely proud of our year group and look forward to using half of the money to plan our end of year events. As well as this, the other half of the money is donated to a charity of our choice.
This year, we have chosen The Grand Appeal – Bristol Children’s Hospital as our nominated charity.
We have loved raising money for a great cause in such a fun way!
