Halloween FundRaiser for Jude
October 25th, 2012Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre is hosting a charity Halloween party this Saturday (27 October) in aid of a local four-year old boy who needs a life-changing operation.
Jude was born eight weeks premature weighing just 4lb 1 ounce and spent six weeks at Southmead Hospital and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
Jude s family are trying to raise £31 000 for him to have an operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy at Frenchay Hospital. This invasive surgery involves taking away some of the nerves in his spine in order to relieve some of the stiffness in his joints. For anyone who remembers the previous “Help Toby Walk” and “Footsteps for Abigail” campaigns for two Bradley Stoke children to undergo a similar operation in America, this surgery is now available in the UK at Frenchay Hospital. The surgery has had a life changing effect for both Toby and Abigail.
Erica Cross, Marketing Manager at Circadian Trust said, I heard about Jude s story through a close friend. His parents have done an amazing job already raising over half the sum, but there is still a long way to go.
We wanted to do something special with the local community in order to help raise money for Jude and his family.
The event costs £3 and will run from 7.30pm until late. There is a Disco, Bar and Raffle, and prizes for the best fancy dress.
