Help get Bob past the goal post

Local Bradley Stoke resident Bob Bloomer is currently on a mammoth cycle ride for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Bob is an ex-professional footballer having previously played for Chesterfield, Bristol Rovers & Cheltenham who now works for the football league.

Bob states “Since retiring from playing football I always wanted to set myself a personal challenge to raise money for a very worthy cause. My aim is to visit all 14 Football League Clubs that I work with, in and around the South West by bicycle between 6th – 15th May 2011!! This covers Clubs such as; Shrewsbury, Exeter, Yeovil, Torquay, Swindon, Cheltenham and Plymouth to name but a few. I will cover approx. 850 miles and my plan is to do this in a continuous 10 day cycle.

Bob trained for this cycling challenge at Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre and is supported by Giant Bradley Stoke, who have also loaned him a road bike.

Bob is currently on Day 6 of his 10-day challenge and is finding it quite tough, especially as it s a solo effort, but is spurred on by the continuing donations he is receiving through his website www.justgiving.com/bob-bloomer

Below is the schedule of Bob s charity ride:

6th May Day 1 – Bristol (Rovers) to Portsmouth (T. Ground, Eastleigh)
7th May Day 2 – Portsmouth to Oxford
8th May Day 3 – Oxford to Swindon to Cheltenham
9th May Day 4 – Cheltenham to Walsall to Shrewsbury
10th May Day 5 – Shrewsbury to Swansea
11th May Day 6 – Swansea to Cardiff (on to Bristol)
