Holy Family Sing their Hearts Out at the Colston Hall

Earlier this month, children from Holy Family Primary School took centre stage at the Colston Hall in Bristol as part of ‘The Big Assembly to celebrate the Year of Faith.

Singing ‘Fields of Gold by Sting in front of an audience of more than 2000 people, created a calm and tranquil atmosphere in the prestigious surroundings.   The year 5 and 6 children involved composed their own actions to the song and all wore yellow to represent the ‘fields of gold. The children were overwhelmed at the opportunity to perform in front of Bishop Declan.   Holly Sharman, aged 10, stated, “It was an honour because he is a really important man! ”

They were led by Gary Risdale, the year 4 teacher, who learnt the song on his guitar especially for the event. He was delighted with their performance, saying, “We were all very nervous but delivered a show stopping performance. I was so proud of everyone involved! ” The children also performed the song at the school Harvest festival so that the children at Holy Family could hear their amazing talents!
