ITV visit Holy Family to celebrate Papal Visit !
September 29th, 2010
Three children at Holy Family RC Primary School in Stoke Lodge, Patchway, were excited to be picked to join the Head teacher, Dawn Breeze, on the visit of Pope Benedict XVI when he made his Papal visit on the 17th September.
The children travelled to London early in the morning and took part in the special assembly which took place in St. Mary’s College in Twickenham.
Hannah Shiga (aged 11), Brandon Evans (aged 11) and Kundai Vurayayi (aged 9) were over the moon to take part in this special event. Brandon stated “I’m very excited – my Grandad went to see Pope John Paul II in Cardiff” and Kundai exclaimed, “I’m ecstatic!”
Hearing this exciting news, it wasn’t long before ITV news contacted Holy Family and the school were delighted to open their doors to the film crew. ITV filmed the school taking part in a special reflection, and then filmed the year 6 class learning all about Pope Benedict. The three children, Father Tom Finnegan (from St. Teresa’s church) and Mrs Breeze were interviewed for the news report by Richard Payne from ITV’s ‘The West Country Tonight’.
Hannah Shiga said, “I felt very nervous but when I started talking, the interview man was really nice!”
The atmosphere was electric as the camera rolled and the children and staff felt like stars for the day.
