Jubilee Green Needs Your Vote!

The Friends of Jubilee Green are appealing for local people’s help, following the announcement that Bradley Stoke Town Council has registered Jubilee Green in a new ‘Fields in Trust initiative that could see the green protected for the community to enjoy forever more.

Bradley Stoke Town Council has Jubilee Green on a 999 year lease from South Glos Council, but by registering in this scheme and the community voting for it could see it protected as a community space.

We need your votes, visit the QEII Fields Challenge website HERE to cast your vote and show how important this space is to you. If you can spare some time also register yourself as a volunteer!

Voting opened on 18th October and you have one month to cast your vote.

Here is some more information from the website about the scheme:

“2012 marks Her Majesty The Queen s Diamond Jubilee and we want to ensure that it is celebrated in fitting style. The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge, operated by Fields in Trust, is a fantastic new campaign to protect 2012 outdoor recreational spaces in communities all across the country as a permanent living legacy of this great event.

From sports pitches to woodlands, children’s play areas to gardens and bicycle trails to parks, the Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge will protect a diverse range of outdoor spaces ensuring that there is something to appeal to everyone … …

The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge will give communities an opportunity to vote for an outdoor space in their area to become part of the scheme and be permanently protected as a tribute to the Diamond Jubilee.”

In addition to the protection, if the site achieves QEII Field Challenge status it will also allow volunteers to apply for funding through SITA UK to deliver projects to further develop the site.

Michelle Dent, Chair of The Friends of Jubilee Green said “We hope the local community is as excited as we are about this amazing opportunity. Please do vote for Jubilee Green!”
