Jubilee Green Park Celebrates 1st Anniversary

Local children joined The Friends of Jubilee Green this afternoon in celebrating the first anniversary of the park.

The Friends, a local group of volunteers, put on a range of free craft activities, refreshments (generously provided by Starbucks), prizes and goody bags (kindly provided by Tesco and Bradley Stoke Matters). Children of all ages enjoyed decorating crowns and creating pictures showing their favourite equipment in the park, while parents and carers looked on and enjoyed hot drinks in the Woodlands Suite of the Jubilee Centre.

The event culminated in a parade around the park of over 30 children wearing their crowns and following Chair of The Friends, Michelle Dent. Michelle carried an impressive birthday cake which depicted a typical scene from the park. Given the number of children at the event, there was a huge sigh of relief when it was realised that there was indeed enough cake to go around!

Children were delighted to receive a free goody bag and they then enjoyed some parachute games led by The Woodcraft Folk, a local children’s group which meets weekly at Meadowbrook Primary school on Wednesday evenings.

One Mum, Tracy, commented: “What a lovely event. The park is a great place for my children to play and it’s even better when there are extra activities like this. My children have had a lovely time and I’d like to say a big ‘Thank You’ to the volunteers who organised this celebration.”

Matters Magazines was there to capture the whole event in photos – see our flickr pages for some great shots!
