Life Skills at the Creative Centre

By Eleanor, Carine, Urenna And Susana, Year Six Pupils at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School

On 16th September, which was a lovely day, Year Six journeyed to Life Skills. Life Skills is an enormous building where they learned what to do in different scenarios. This was in connection to their Enquiry question : How are lives saved?

Firstly , they embarked on a coach where they were all shaking with excitement. When they finally arrived at Life Skills (it was a 40-minute bus drive), they felt intimidated, and foreign, as the building was such an extraordinary size.

At the very beginning of the trip, they participated in a silent quiz. Afterwards they were sorted into groups of three and four, then the adventure began!

They learnt about leaks, fires and they even got to dial 999 and 105.

Other hazards they discussed were about carbon monoxide (co), and how you cannot see, smell or taste it. They finally learnt, what to do if you heard someone screaming for help and what happens in an electrical blackout.

One student quoted that,
“It was so creepy and scared me to death, but it was great to experience what to do in stressful situations.”

Miss Molloy added, “It was informative and educational.”

What an amazing day for Year Six and as Abigail said, “It was an experience I will never forget.”

Overall, it was highly recommended as one of the top best trip across their time in St Mary’s. Yet they must not forget to say a great big thank you to all the volunteers which helped them on the day at the Create Centre.
