Little Stoke Primary School – Update by Headteacher, Scott Howes

Bright Sparks Pre-School – new unit at Little Stoke Primary School.

We are very pleased that Bright Sparks preschool is opening an additional unit at our school from September this year. Bright Sparks, a well known and very successful pre-school, has been running at Stoke Lodge School for over 8 years. Due to continued growth they are keen to support families with pre-school support for 2, 3 and 4 year olds at Little Stoke School. Forest School – The Forest School sessions are up and running at Little Stoke! Our ‘Forest School trained teacher, Mrs Ratcliffe made the most of the glorious July weather by taking groups of children out into the extensive woodland area beyond the school playground every week.

Children have reported having a great time building dens, discovering more about plants and animals, making bug hotels, planning projects and learning how to work well together.

Y1 and 2 were out every Friday with reception visiting the woods regularly. We hope to extend the sessions to KS2 early in the Autumn term.

And a big thank-you to …The Friends Life Team who came into Little Stoke Primary for a day on 10th July to work in our Forest Area to clear woodland, prepare wood for den making and for making bug hotels.

In addition to this hard work in the school grounds, the team of 15 members of the Friends Life Marketing department also redecorated a classroom. Thank you very much for your hard work, it was very much appreciated!

School Camp – The Year 5-6 residential school camp took place over a long weekend at the end of June and was a great success. The children stayed at an outdoor adventure centre at LLangorse Lake in Wales and, despite the rain and winds, they had a great time abseiling, rock climbing, raft building, hill walking, sailing and orienteering amongst many activities. Well done to all the children who took part in these adventurous activities and in showing a great team spirit supporting one another.
