Local Bowls Club Invites New Members
March 9th, 2023
Stoke Gifford Trust Short Mat Bowls Club is a friendly, local, indoor bowls club which is encouraging more local people to give the game a try. Short Mat Bowls is a highly enjoyable, indoor version of full length flat green bowls, which is played – as the name suggests – over a shorter distance. Members of the Stoke Gifford club meet to play bowls three times a week (on Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoons) in the Trust Hall on North Road. The club has been running for over 30 years.
In 1991 the club became one of the first regular activities to be held in the newly opened Trust Hall. Because the game is weatherproof, members gather to play all year round. New players, experienced or beginners, are warmly welcomed and club regulars are always happy to explain the rules and techniques to newcomers. There is a minimal cost per session, which includes refreshments half way through the afternoon.
The club has recently created a new Facebook page to make information more accessible to potential members. It can also be contacted by emailing [email protected] or by phoning 0117 330 5487.
The Trust Hall is located next to the playing fields on North Road, Stoke Gifford, BS34 8PE.
