Local Entrepreneur wins Award for ‘Making Stuff Happen’
October 25th, 2011
Congratulations to local entrepreneur, Dee Woodward from JDS Design, who was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Month, October 2011’ for ‘making stuff happen’.
The last couple of years have seen a lot of businesses small and large struggle. Only this weekend we saw David Cameron warn the crisis in the eurozone is having an effect on all our economies, Britian included . It is refreshing then to see local businesses thriving and pulling through in what has been called the biggest global economic slowdown for six decades . 2011 has seen JDS Design grow dramatically from Dee s dedication to supporting local businesses through creative thinking and intelligent design.
Dee Woodward set up JDS Design in 2009 at the age of 24 and in midst of the BBC announcing The UK is officially in recession with the simple idea to help local businesses make the most of great design without huge agency overheads. It wasn t until mid 2010 that Dee took the plunge into full time self employment and focused her business on working with other businesses to develop their brand and marketing to grow their business and ultimately increase profits during the economic hard times.
Dee said Setting up a business is a daunting task for anyone, and it does not come without some sacrafices and a lot of hard work, but if you are passionate about anything then working for yourself is the best feeling in the world. People may be scared by the news about the economic downturn but I truely believe you only get out what you put in. Setting up JDS Design was the best thing I ever decided to do, I m looking forward to 2012 and making it the best year yet!
