Local Judo Coach selected to help England Squad

Bradley Stoke Judo Club is proud to announce that our head coach, Pete Douglas, has been appointed as one of three coaches for the England squad at the 2026 Commonwealth Championships in Glasgow. This selection recognises years of committed work on the mat, a depth of technical knowledge, and a consistent record of bringing the best out of the athletes under his guidance.

Pete’s appointment reflects the values our club stands for, steady discipline, clarity of purpose, and the belief that proper coaching shapes character as much as performance. His work with players across all age groups has played a central role in the growth of the club. It has also helped to establish our reputation within the wider judo community.

Representing England at a major championship is a responsibility, not a headline. Pete has earned that responsibility through sustained effort and high standards, and we are pleased to see that acknowledged at national level.

The 2026 event in Glasgow will gather leading judoka from across the Commonwealth. Pete will be part of the coaching team preparing England’s athletes for an intense and demanding competition.

This is a significant moment for him and for the club. It sets a clear example for our members of what long term commitment and well grounded coaching can achieve.
