Local Poppy Appeal Launch 2018 and Remembrance Sunday

The Stoke Gifford Branch of the Royal British Legion has confirmed that its 2018 Poppy Appeal launch will take place on Friday 26th October 2018 at 2pm at Bristol Parkway Station, it hopes to have Scouts; Cadets; Riders; Branch Vice President Jack Lopresti MP, and special guests.

The main Poppy Fortnight is then for two weeks until Remembrance Sunday 11th November.  If you or someone you know needs help from the RBL, please contact the RBL national helpline – 0808 802 8080. The RBL also has a Pop In Centre in 60 Union Street, Bristol, where people can call in for advice and information on the charity’s support and community services.

If you would like to volunteer during the Poppy Appeal, then please specify where, we’re collecting in Sainsbury’s, ASDA, the Mall at Cribbs Causeway, and the Willow Brook Centre Bradley Stoke and other supermarkets.

The Stoke Gifford Remembrance Sunday service is held at the Memorial on the Green in North Road Stoke Gifford at 10.15 am on Sunday, the 11th November 2018, this is a short service, an the act of Remembrance takes place with the laying of wreaths and the 2 minutes silence.  Following this out door service, St Michael’s Church Stoke Gifford has their normal Remembrance Service in St Michael’s Church, North Road, Stoke Gifford.  Also the Baptist church in Rock Lane off North Road also has an 11  o’clock service, which members of the RBL attend.
