Local Resident Publishes First Novel: The Furniture Being by Simon Ingsworth

We were pleased to hear from local Bradley Stoke resident John Edwards, who has published his first novel.

John (who writes under the pen name Simon Ingsworth) tells us he has a strong interest both in the spiritual world and in neurodiversity (the latter being something he experiences first hand, having been diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome in 2013). He started writing The Furniture Being in November 2023 to raise awareness and to support people who have similar diagnoses such as Autism, ADHD, Bi-polar amongst others, which affect their everyday lives. In this book John has also tried to represent the creativity and historical significance of Britain and British culture as well as a foreigner’s perspective on Filipino culture and cultural values.

The Furniture Being is about Alexander who, grieving the loss of his mother, feels alone and isolated. His days consist of lying in bed, watching tv and entertaining himself through reading books and playing chess. He has lost the ability to socialise and is unable to find work. This all starts to change when he encounters a Victorian creation who takes a liking to him. This marvel takes Alexander on a journey of self-discovery: Employment: Romance: Travelling: personal independence – what could possibly go wrong?

Join Alexander on a journey that will take you through some of the harshest and most soul-destroying times, but also through the most beautiful and uplifting times. This is a story full of triumph, struggles and the battle for every inch of success.

This is a story that will fill you with every emotion imaginable. This is a story that you will never forget.

The book is available on Amazon in paperback or Kindle versions.
