Love Mozart? Like to sing? Combine the two at Thornbury Choral Society this Autumn!
July 12th, 2011
This November Thornbury Choral Society will be performing Mozart’s magnificent and moving Requiem at its Autumn concert and is currently looking to recruit new members to join its friendly band of singers.
Whether you’ve sung before or have just always fancied giving it a go, this local community choir will welcome you to its ranks – whatever your ability! There are no auditions so you can just turn up and join in. All the choir asks is that you can blend with other voices.
The choir meets to rehearse Monday evenings 8-9.30pm in the United Reformed Church Hall, Chapel St, in Thornbury. The autumn season starts on 5th September when in addition to Mozart’s Requiem the choir will also be rehearsing Schubert’s rarely performed Mass No 3 in B flat major. The concert, with professional soloists and orchestra, will take place at The Castle School in Thornbury on Saturday, 26th November.
If you would like to know more and chat to other members about what it is like to be in the choir there will be a Welcome Evening with drinks and nibbles before the rehearsal on Monday 12th September from 7.30pm. “It’s a great opportunity to meet existing members and find out what being in the choir involves, ” explains TCS Chairman, Alison Makepeace. “It can be daunting joining a new group, so the Welcome Evening, helps to ease new members in.”
