Children at Mama Bear's Downend nusery meet PudseyChildren at Mama Bear's Soundwell with their welcome banner aChildren at Mama Bear ’s Day Nursery and Pre-Schools across Bristol and the South West have raised thousands of pounds for Children in Need with a series of fundraising activities.

The nursery group raised a whopping £5899.24 for the cause after planning a whole week of events across each of its 13 Bristol nurseries and settings in Devon and Somerset.

Events included a sponsored danceathon, a teddy bear ’s picnic, a treasure hunt, a bake off and a superhero day with funds raised going to those less fortunate.

Children aged three months to five years were delighted when Pudsey Bear himself showed up to congratulate them on their hard work.

Claire Beaumont-Wraith from Mama Bear ’s Day Nursery said: “We are great supporters of Children in Need every year and we ’re delighted that this year we raised well over £5000 for the charity.

“Last year we raised £4000 so to beat that target by such a huge amount is fantastic and we ’d like to thank all of our staff, children and their families for helping to make it such a success.

“Each one of our nurseries took part in their own unique activities and it was great fun for the children. The children we care for are fortunate in so many ways so it ’s lovely to be able to give something back. ”

The family-run Mama Bear ’s Day Nurseries provide care for children from three months to five years. There are now 21 settings across Bristol, Somerset and Devon.

Mama Bear ’s Day Nursery is a family-run business with its offices in Hanham, Bristol. The Day Nurseries are aimed at providing children with their first vital level of education to give them a head-start when they start at primary school.
